Well Woman Care
The Birth Haven offers full service gynecology care, annual PAP smears, & lab work.
Prenatal Care
Prenatal care will be in our comfortable exam rooms. The midwife will listen to your baby’s
heartbeat and check the position and growth of the baby. The midwife will also check your vital
signs and discuss your nutritional intake. During these visits as you experience body and
emotional changes we encourage you to bring questions to your appointment to discuss. Your
midwife will also educate you on these changes and give advice on how to handle the changes
throughout your pregnancy. Your visit will last 1 hour and that time starts once the midwife
brings you into the exam room and sits down with you.

Labor and Birth (Waterbirth included)
This is the most anticipated and exciting part of the pregnancy, your labor! Once you come in
and are in active labor your midwife will stay by your side. She will be your main source of
support, encouraging you throughout your labor. The midwife will offer you advise on
comfortable positions or places in the birth center to soothe you throughout your labor.
We do provide the option of having a waterbirth. This decision can be made anytime throughout
the pregnancy or during the labor. We do not charge any additional charges for this option.
Waterbirth has great benefits with relaxation being at the top of the list.

Post-Partum Care
The midwife will remain in contact with you after the birth, to aid at any time. Within the next
24-48 hours after birth Mommy and baby will come into the center for a checkup. The Newborn
Screening is offered at this visit. During this visit the midwife will aid with breastfeeding if
needed. We also have a Lactation Educator on staff. From this appointment we will schedule all
your post-partum visits.

Birth Haven Support Groups & Classes
The Birth Haven provides numerous support groups from the start of pregnancy to post-partum.
These groups are formed for each woman to share their pregnancy journey to in hopes of
inspiring another mom and in hopes of getting advice with any complication they may be experiencing.
